What is Broadway Bound International? Broadway Bound International is an inspiring, two-day, Dance and Musical Theater workshop that gives students aged 8 to 22 years (beginner to pre-professional, boys and girls) exposure to the professional world of Broadway and Commercial Dance. Over the action-packed two days, students learn choreography in Hip Hop, Contemporary, Broadway, Tap, Glee, and Bollywood, taught by professional, current, and international Choreographers and Artists. Our faculty members are selected not only for their resume, but for their honed teaching skills, supportive personalities, and connection to the professional community. Last year alone, several students received invitations to audition for Broadway shows such as MARY POPPINS, BILLY ELLIOT, and 9 TO 5. This was a direct result of students being exposed to the right people in the right environment, which is why we choose faculty members that can make a difference. Also, unlike other popular Conventions, BBI caps its classes so the student can see, learn, move, and form a rapport with their teacher. After classes finish on Day 1, BBI holds a competition where students can perform solos, duos, trios, or group numbers for our faculty. They receive a written adjudication and a score. Highest scores are eligible to win cash, scholarships, merchandise, and a beautiful BBI 2011 Trophy. At our NY event, a top casting director is invited to scout talent, which again, is another opportunity for students to be noticed. The competition is followed by a faculty talk-back and a pizza party! Parents and friends are invited to watch without charge. Day 2 ends with our anticipated and fabulous Curtain Call Showcase, where students opt to perform what they learned over the past two days. High-scoring individuals from the previous day's competition also perform their numbers and receive their awards at the end of the night. In addition, stand-outs from the workshop are also called up on stage to receive awards of recognition in pre-determined categories. Alongside the workshop, BBI offers an opportunity to have a 30 minute private lesson with one of our faculty members which is appropriately named THE FAST TRACK. This unique event is by application only, which can be found on the FAST TRACK link. Lucky recipients will receive a custom-designed, one-on-one class in the discipline of their choice. For example; vocal coaching, advanced hip hop, advanced tap, advanced contemporary, audition technique, or career coaching. BBI was formed to inspire, educate, and motivate young artists, their studio teachers, and parents. We love dance, we love performing, and we love being able to share our knowledge with up-and-coming young artists in the community.
